A distressing incident unfolded when Constable Vitthal Munihala of Udyambag police station in Belgaum attempted suicide, allegedly due to harassment by CPI Dharegowda Patil. However, timely intervention by his friends prevented the tragedy.
Vitthal had reportedly penned a 15-page death note, outlining several allegations against CPI Dharegowda. According to the note, the constable faced constant harassment, including verbal abuse following his return from leave and being questioned for attending his sister’s wedding. He also claimed to have been issued memos for being “absent” despite being on duty and subject to undue pressure over leave and night duties.
In his note, Vitthal expressed mental anguish and demanded disciplinary action against the CPI. Aligned with his alarming messages, friends acted quickly to locate and save him. The incident has brought attention to alleged workplace harassment within the police force.
