In a significant step towards enhancing freight and logistics capabilities in Belagavi, the Hubli Division of South Western Railway has initiated container loading operations at Sambre Station, located near Belagavi. This development represents a crucial advancement in the region’s logistical infrastructure and freight operations, fostering improved connectivity and economic growth.
The inaugural container loading consisted of 45 wagons carrying silica sand, an essential industrial material, transported from Ahmedabad to Sambre Station over a distance of 1,365 kilometers. The operation generated an impressive revenue of approximately ₹ 40 lakh.
This milestone reflects South Western Railway’s dedication to enhancing freight efficiency and supporting local industries by providing a dependable and cost-effective transportation option. The introduction of container loading at Sambre Station is anticipated to significantly enhance the logistics capabilities of the region, creating new opportunities for businesses to transport goods more efficiently over greater distances.
