A team from APMC Yard Police Station has tracked down an accused in a narcotics case who had been absconding for two years.
Nayeem Abbas Koza, a resident of Sultan Nagar Gokak, was granted bail in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act but failed to appear in court afterward. During the two-year period, he hid in various towns across different states.
On Saturday, he was arrested and brought before the court, where the magistrate placed him in judicial custody.
The operation was carried out by a team formed by Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang to track absconding accused in multiple cases. The Commissioner commended the team led by Inspector Vishwanath Kabburi, Sub-Inspector Manjunath Bhajantri, and officers B.K. Mitagara, N.M. Desai, B.M. Nargund, Khadar Khanammanavar, Govind Pujari, and N.D. Birgond.
