Officials from the Dhonda forest area have detained two individuals involved in the illegal smuggling of cats, which were being sold at Mohite Farm in the Londa forest area of Khanapur taluka. Forest department staff had been on high alert for two days after receiving information about the sale of scaly cats.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Khanapur Divisional Forest Officer Sunita Nimbargi, led by the RF of the Londa division. Of the four suspects, two managed to flee into the forest, but the other two were apprehended. DFO Nimbargi, while addressing the media, expressed suspicion of an international smuggling ring. The arrested suspects were presented before the Khanapur court, and it was confirmed that they have been sent to jail.
