A teacher from a government primary school in Chikkodi Belagavi has been detained following allegations of harassment involving female students. Mohammad Sadiq Gous Mohidin Miyobeg is now facing charges under the Pocso Act.
The arrest was prompted by a complaint from the parents of a girl who returned home upset and revealed the harassment she experienced. Her parents reported the incident, leading to Miyobeg’s arrest.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Bhimashankar Guled confirmed the arrest and the application of the Pocso Act. The complaint was filed on Friday night, and the Chikkodi police are continuing their investigation.
Efforts to contact Deputy Director of Public Instruction (in-charge) for Chikkodi, M A Mekanamaradi, for details on further actions against Miyobeg were unsuccessful, as his phone was off.
