Two trainers from the Junior Leaders Wing of the Commando School, a prestigious Indian Army training institute based in Belgaum, drowned in the Tillari Dam near Chandgad in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Vijaykumar (28) from Rajasthan and Diwakar Roy (26) from West Bengal.
According to the Belgaum Camp police, citing their Chandgad counterparts, the officers were conducting river-crossing training for junior officers when their boat capsized, leading to the tragic incident.
