The Lingayat Panchamasali Samaj has accused the Congress-led state government of targeting BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for political reasons. R.K. Patil, the district president of the samaj, stated in Belagavi on Monday that the government is unjustly harassing Mr. Yatnal by delaying permission for an ethanol unit at his sugar factory, despite him having obtained all necessary approvals.
Patil condemned the government’s actions, calling them politically motivated and aimed at suppressing Mr. Yatnal, who is emerging as a significant leader within the community and the BJP. He warned of potential protests if the permits are not issued by September 25.
Patil also criticized the State Pollution Control Board for blocking the ethanol unit based on questionable information, despite court approvals. He emphasized that his support for Yatnal is not solely due to their shared Panchamasali community ties but because the issue impacts the future of farmers. Several other community leaders, including Raju Kudasomannavara, Raju Sogala, Ningappa Piroji, and others, were also present.
