Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directed officials to initiate relief, repair, and reconstruction efforts in flood-affected areas once the rainfall diminishes. During his visit to Jugul village in Belgaum district on Monday, he emphasized the urgent need to prioritize the construction of homes for families who lost theirs, as well as repairing public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, electricity poles, telephone lines, and school buildings damaged by the rains and floods.
He toured submerged areas in Jugul village and inspected sites like Uppar Galli, Kumbar Galli, Bhojgar Galli, and the Old Cattle Market. Siddaramaiah instructed officers to ensure that all affected families receive the necessary relief and assistance promptly.The Chief Minister also assessed the Lolasur Bridge, submerged due to the overflowing Ghataprabha river. MLA Balachandra Jarakiholi urged Siddaramaiah to expedite the construction of a new bridge at a higher elevation to prevent future submergence.
During his visit, Siddaramaiah visited a care center at the municipal high school in Gokak, interacting with the residents there. He instructed Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan and others to ensure that all care centers are adequately stocked with food, medicine, and essential supplies.
Siddaramaiah spent the majority of the day in Belgaum district, accompanied by members of the Jarkiholi family, including Satish, Balachandra, Lakhan, and newly elected MP Priyanka Jarkiholi. Independent MLC Lakhan Jarkiholi expressed strong support for Siddaramaiah, dismissing allegations against him as temporary distractions. He affirmed Siddaramaiah’s leadership and resilience, stating his belief that Siddaramaiah will continue to lead effectively.
Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, MLAs Laxman Savadi, Vishwas Vaidya, Asif Sait, and Raju Kage, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, Revenue Secretary V. Rashmi, Inspector-General of Police Vikash Kumar Vikash, Superintendent of Police Bhima Shankar Guled, and other officials were also present during the Chief Minister’s visit.
