MLC Channaraj Hattiholi announced on Sunday in Belgaum that the State government intends to construct a modern stadium. The facility, planned on expansive grounds, will feature amenities for multiple sports disciplines including cricket, wrestling, swimming, kabaddi, and volleyball.
Laxmi Hebbalkar, Minister and Congress MLA from Belgaum Rural constituency, proposed the stadium, which has been approved by the State government. Hattiholi inspected a potential site near Belgundi village, bordering Karnataka and Maharashtra, where the stadium is likely to be developed. He highlighted plans for the stadium to double as a sports academy, providing coaching in various sports to youth in the region.
