On Thursday, Lokayukta officials conducted a series of raids in 11 cases of disproportionate assets spread across nine districts in the state. Approximately 100 Lokayukta officers conducted searches at 56 locations in districts including Davanagere, Chitradurga, Kolar, Mandya, Kalaburagi, Mysore, Hassan, Belgaum, and Dharwad, targeting corrupt government officials.
Multiple teams of officials simultaneously conducted searches at the residences, offices, and relatives’ residences of the accused government officers, covering more than 56 locations. The searches were conducted based on information suggesting their acquisition of disproportionate assets compared to their known sources of income.
According to a press release from the Lokayukta, officials raided four locations belonging to Mahadeva Bannur, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) at the Panchayath Raj Engineer Division in Belgaum. During the searches, officials discovered three houses valued at approximately Rs. 1.05 crore, along with cash amounting to Rs. 1.8 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs. 20 lakh, and vehicles valued at Rs. 7.5 lakh.
