Belgaum police found counterfeit currency during a routine check in Gokak. Officers intercepted a car on the Gokak-Belgaum road at Kadabagatti village in the morning and arrested five people involved in the illegal activity.
The individuals taken into custody are Anwar Mohammad Saleem Yadawad from Arabhavi in Mudalagi taluk, Saddam Musa Yadahalli from Mahalingapur, Ravi Channappa Hagadi, Dundappa Mahadeva Vanashenavi, and Vitthala Hanamantha from Hosakoti.
During the vehicle inspection, authorities discovered counterfeit currency notes in denominations of ₹100 and ₹500. This finding has raised concerns among local law enforcement agencies, prompting swift action against the individuals involved.
A case concerning this incident has been filed at the Gokak Rural Police Station. Ongoing investigations are being conducted to ascertain the origin and scale of the counterfeit currency operation.
