After a 28-year-old in Belgaum succumbed to complications from dengue fever, authorities have issued guidelines to prevent its spread.Prasad Muchchandikar passed away at a private hospital on Saturday following a diagnosis of dengue fever.
Health authorities in the district have advised residents to prevent the disease by avoiding mosquito bites. Since there is no effective vaccine available, the recommended approach is to use mosquito repellents containing diethyl meta toluamide (DEET) or similar chemicals.
Individuals can protect themselves by wearing loose-fitting, long-sleeved clothing to cover their bodies. Mosquito nets are advisable for sleeping both during the night and daytime. Preventing water stagnation in containers, flowerpots, bird baths, old tires, and garden ponds is crucial. Installing screens on windows can also help.
Anyone experiencing fever, pain, or vomiting should seek medical attention if symptoms persist beyond two days, according to an official statement.
