Violent confrontations erupted in the evening on Thursday at the socially volatile Alwan Galli in the Shahapur suburb. The clashes stemmed from a minor dispute between two groups engaged in playing street cricket.
According to reports, the altercation began when a person was struck by a cricket ball while children were playing in the alley. Verbal arguments intensified, leading to instances of stone throwing, exacerbating the situation. Two individuals sustained serious injuries as a result of being hit by stones.
Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and were working to quell the situation. A crowd had gathered outside the Shahapur police station.
Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang stated that the clashes between two groups over a minor issue have intensified. Action will be taken against those involved in the incidents based on CCTV footage.
A legal case has been filed against both Muslim and Hindu youths in connection with the Talwar demonstration and stone pelting. The charges include various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) such as 143, 147, 148, 323, 324, 307, 354, 504, 506, 153A, and 149. Thirteen Hindu youths are facing charges under the same sections.
Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities have apprehended five individuals from each of the two groups. Additionally, Abdul, who is accused of wielding the talwar, has also been taken into custody.
