“I am not doing politics on the personal life of BJP candidate Jagadish Shettar. I have only repeated the allegations made against him by some BJP leaders on social media,” stated Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.
Speaking to media representatives at Congress Bhavan in Belgaum on Tuesday, she stated that she hadn’t engaged in politics by delving into Shettar’s personal life. Instead, she referred to the allegations raised by certain BJP leaders on social media. She mentioned that Shettar resides at the former residence of late Suresh Angadi, a former union minister and Belgaum MP. She also noted that Shettar’s son is married to Angadi’s daughter.
In response to BJP MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi’s recent statement predicting that Congress leaders would seek Shettar’s favor once he wins the elections and becomes a union minister, Hebbalkar remarked that she is also eager for the election outcome.
She mentioned that while BJP leaders engage in their political activities, they will focus on their own strategies. It was mentioned that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will soon visit Belgaum, Chikkodi, and Kittur to campaign for Congress candidates Mrinal Hebbalkar, Priyanka Jarkiholi, and Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar. It was noted that the intensity of the Lok Sabha elections is gradually increasing. It was stated that they have been receiving positive feedback from voters during their campaigning efforts. Additionally, it was stated that star campaigners from Maharashtra will also participate in the campaign.
MLC Channaraj Hattiholi commented that voters are conscious of the leaders who contributed to the Congress candidate’s success in the MLC elections. He mentioned that there were clandestine gatherings and efforts to campaign against him. He expressed that they are approaching the Lok Sabha elections in a peaceful manner and predicted that voters will deliver a significant message to the BJP through their ballots.
