A crowd vandalized the residence of a woman after her son reportedly eloped with a married woman in Jinral village, Belagavi district. Lagamanna Walikar, a 34-year-old man, who is married and has a son, eloped with a married woman from the same village. He previously resided with his mother and grandmother.
Upon the spread of the news, many individuals, connected to the husband of the married woman, assembled outside Walikar’s residence. Armed with machetes and rods, the group verbally abused the family, pelting stones at the house. They forcibly entered, damaging doors, windows, and roof tiles. Additionally, they brought out furniture and groceries, discarding them on the street. The female resident and the child were not harmed as they fled from the location before the assault. They sought refuge in the residence of a family friend within the village.
The victims filed a complaint with the Yamakanamaradi Police, alleging that the crowd stole money, gold jewelry, and other valuable items from their residence. Samayya Walikar, Kempanna Walikar, Renuka Fakirappa Walikar, Ningappa Walikar, Bharama, Hanumant Lagamappa, Ningappa Lagamappa, Lagama Yalagunda, were named in the complaint among others.
