In Khanapur, a significant amount of Rs 1.40 crore has been confiscated in connection with cases involving the illegal transportation and sale of liquor. The Excise Department officials, led by Deputy Commissioner M. Vanajakshi of Excise Belagavi South, oversaw the disposal of valuable liquor in Honakalpa village.
The destruction of 10,300 liters of liquor, contained in 1,150 boxes stemming from 72 cases reported between December 2023 and January 2024 under the Khanapur zone, took place. Deputy Commissioner Vanajakshi highlighted the seizure of 135 liters of beer and 130 liters of illicit liquor.
The confiscated liquor was responsibly destroyed in the forest area of Honakalla village, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Deputy Superintendent of Excise Ravi Murgod, along with Ravi Hosahalli and Zonal Inspector Mallesh Uppara, were present during the operation.
