In a heart-wrenching incident unfolding on the outskirts of Sultanpur village in Raibag Taluk, Belgaum district, a 26-year-old mother named Saraswati Kirave and her two daughters, Deepika (7) and Rithika (4), tragically lost their lives by plunging into a well. The devastating event transpired as Saraswati, who had tied the knot with Kiran from Sangli, Maharashtra, in 2016, reached a breaking point due to relentless harassment from her husband.
Returning to her hometown, Sultanpur, eight months earlier following a dispute with her husband, Saraswati faced unrelenting distress due to ongoing harassment at her husband’s house. Family members who recovered the bodies from the well emphasized that the continuous harassment and the absence of any attempts at reconciliation from her husband during this period exacerbated Saraswati’s emotional turmoil.
The distressing situation was further intensified by frequent calls and harassment from her husband, ultimately driving Saraswati to take such a drastic step and end her life along with her two young daughters. Local authorities, including the police, visited the scene and conducted a thorough investigation, leading to the registration of a case in connection with this tragic incident.
