Responding to the fervent public call for a district stadium with the largest area in Belagavi, there is a significant move to provide a platform for local sports enthusiasts to showcase their skills on the international stage. In acknowledgment of this pressing need, B. Nagendra, the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports Department, and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, has directed officials to formulate a plan for the construction of a new district stadium in the Ramtheerth Nagar area of Belagavi.
During an inspection of the proposed site near the HESCOM grid at Ramtheerth Nagar, Minister Nagendra expressed contentment with the selected location by the district administration and the concerned department. Stressing the importance of a comprehensive construction plan, he urged officials to engage in discussions with the district in-charge minister before proceeding.
Given that Belagavi district boasts the highest number of sportspersons, the construction of this stadium holds significant importance. It is poised to greatly benefit young athletes by providing them with essential facilities to excel in their respective sports.
To accommodate the stadium, the Belgaum Urban Development Authority has already designated 9 acres and 20 acres of land. Minister Nagendra has further directed officials to identify an additional 6 acres of land for parking arrangements.
By heeding the call for a district stadium, the initiative not only addresses public aspirations but also represents an investment in the future of the local sports community. This project is expected to play a pivotal role in fostering the growth and success of talented athletes, empowering them to make their mark on the international stage.
