K. Anand, an esteemed officer of the Indian Defence Estate Service hailing from Tamil Nadu, was discovered lifeless in his official residence within the Belgaum Cantonment on Saturday November 25, 2023.
The CEO of the Cantonment Board, Anand’s body was found by household staff in the military camp area, leading to the immediate notification of other officers. Upon entry, Anand was found deceased, prompting an inspection by the MLIRC Brigadier and Khade Bazar ACP at the scene. Notably, the CBI had recently conducted a raid on the Belgaum Cantonment Board based on a private complaint, alleging illegal recruitment and illicit activities.
The circumstances surrounding Anand’s apparent suicide remain enigmatic. Investigations are underway to meticulously scrutinize the events leading up to this tragic incident. Our heartfelt condolences extend to Anand’s family and loved ones during this challenging period.
Senior officers from the Maratha Light Infantry regiment, accompanied by police officials, visited the site to gather more information.
