The decision regarding the creation of additional Deputy Chief Minister positions in the state will be made by the party’s high command, stated Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi during an event in Belagavi on Sunday.
His remarks were in response to a request from Congress leader K.N. Rajanna, who proposed the formation of additional Deputy Chief Minister roles, with Mr. Jarkiholi being considered for one of them. Rajanna’s suggestion aimed to enhance the party’s chances of winning a significant number of seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by having Deputy Chief Ministers from various communities.
Mr. Jarkiholi clarified that Rajanna’s proposal represents his personal opinion, and it doesn’t imply that Mr. Jarkiholi is not interested in the position of Deputy Chief Minister. He acknowledged that other leaders have also voiced similar ideas, emphasizing that decisions on such matters will come after extensive discussions and will ultimately be taken by the senior leadership of the party.
Mr. Jarkiholi expressed satisfaction with the state’s governance and the positive feedback received on the government’s guarantees, citing support from over two crore people. In response to a question, he expressed his backing for the division of Belagavi district, seeing it as beneficial for the general public.
