After facing several delays, the much-anticipated Gruha Lakshmi scheme, which promises Rs 2,000 to the female head of households, is all set to debut on August 30th in Mysuru. The inauguration of this ambitious program is expected to be carried out by former Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Originally slated for launch in Belagavi, the scheme garnered attention as Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Minister Hebbalkar visited the CpED venue earlier this month. However, a decision was later made to shift the launch to the District Stadium.
The state’s Congress-led government has chosen the Maharaja College Ground as the venue for the event, with hopes of drawing a crowd of over one lakh attendees.
While the initial plan was to introduce the Gruha Lakshmi initiative in Belagavi, logistical adjustments were made to accommodate Rahul Gandhi’s schedule, leading to the venue change to Mysuru.
On Sunday, Hebbalkar announced that immediately following the inauguration, a total of 1,09,54,000 registered women would see Rs 2,000 deposited into their bank accounts.
Initially scheduled for August 20th, the launch event experienced delays, being postponed first to August 27th and finally confirmed for August 30th.
Minister of Public Works Department and District Incharge, Satish Jarkiholi, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to shift the Gruha Laxmi Scheme inauguration from Belagavi to Mysuru. However, he refrained from providing specific reasons for the change.
An explanation was given during a cabinet meeting, clarifying that the shift was due to Rahul Gandhi’s prior commitments in his Lok Sabha constituency of Wayanad.
