Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi conveyed on Wednesday in Gokak that the Union government’s reaction to the notion of constructing a flyover across Belagavi city has been notably positive and promising.
“In our meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, we presented our appeal for project assistance. Encouragingly, he has expressed his willingness to provide support. Once accomplished, this flyover will not only establish connectivity between the highways of Goa and Maharashtra but will also effectively alleviate urban traffic congestion,” the Minister informed the media.
“The necessary documents, including project and feasibility reports, have been dispatched to the National Highways Authority of India. The estimated cost for the project falls within the range of ₹300 crore to ₹400 crore,” he elaborated.
Affirming the dedication of the State government, he emphasized their resolve to construct a circular road encircling Belagavi city. “While certain objections have been raised about the project, we are fully committed to addressing those reservations,” he assured. He also shared updates about impending developments, stating, “Initiation of construction on the Belagavi-Panaji National Highway and the commencement of the Halaga-Machche bypass road are both on the imminent horizon.”
“To foster industrial growth in underdeveloped districts and distant regions of North Karnataka, the State government is gearing up to undertake multiple projects,” he revealed. Elaborating on the efforts, he mentioned, “We’re actively pursuing the establishment of an additional industrial zone within the boundaries of Belagavi district. I’ve instructed officials to proactively search for suitable land parcels.”
