The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has earmarked Rs. 229.57 Cr for the development of the New Belagavi Terminal building and additional associated projects at Belagavi Airport.
With this substantial investment, the prospect of transforming Belagavi Airport into an international hub becomes a thrilling possibility. However, to accomplish this ambitious objective, the acquisition of an additional 56 acres of land is imperative. In pursuit of this goal, the esteemed members of the airport advisory committee recently held a meeting with DC Nitesh Patil.
Acknowledging the rapid increase in air travel, the committee placed strong emphasis on the necessity of building a new terminal facility capable of accommodating the ever-growing number of passengers. In their pursuit of expanding possibilities, the committee is actively exploring various avenues.
The forthcoming Belagavi Terminal Building will span an impressive area of 20,000 square meters, with 16,400 square meters allocated for the construction of the New Terminal Building, while an additional 3,600 square meters will be devoted to the Conversion of the Existing Terminal into Arrivals.
After obtaining the necessary approvals for the structural plan, the construction of the Belagavi Terminal is set to begin in the first quarter of 2024. The estimated timeframe for the entire project’s completion is approximately 36 months.
The expansive Belagavi Terminal Building covers an area of 20,000 square meters, with 16,400 square meters designated for the New Terminal Building, and an additional 3,600 square meters allocated for the Conversion of the Existing Terminal into Arrivals.
