Belagavi Airport is set to receive a boost as the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has sanctioned a sum of Rs. 229.57 crore for its expansion and upgradation. The comprehensive project encompasses several key elements such as enlarging the passenger terminal building, expanding the apron area, extending the runway, and installing aerobridges. This substantial investment aims to enhance the airport’s infrastructure and provide an improved travel experience for passengers.
With a sprawling area of 20,000 square meters, the upcoming terminal building at Belagavi Airport is poised to cater to 1,400 passengers during peak hours. Alongside its spacious capacity, the new terminal will be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, encompassing a comprehensive baggage handling system, advanced security screening measures, and efficient air traffic control facilities.
This upgrade promises to provide a seamless and modern travel experience for all passengers passing through the airport. In order to accommodate a greater number of aircraft, the apron at Belagavi Airport will undergo expansion, while the runway will be extended to a length of 2,500 meters.
This crucial development will enable the airport to efficiently handle larger aircraft models, including the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. Additionally, the introduction of aerobridges will facilitate seamless boarding and disembarking processes for passengers. These enhancements will not only reduce turnaround time but also contribute to overall operational efficiency at the airport.
Anticipated as a catalyst for increased air traffic, the upgradation of Belagavi Airport is poised to have a positive impact on the region. This transformation is expected to attract new airlines and significantly enhance connectivity to the city, thereby offering improved accessibility for travelers. With these advancements, the airport aims to play a pivotal role in fostering regional growth and strengthening the overall connectivity network.
Scheduled to be accomplished in a span of 36 months, the project holds promising prospects for Belagavi Airport. The forthcoming terminal building promises a delightful and hassle-free journey for passengers, while the extended runway opens doors to new destinations by accommodating larger aircraft.
This noteworthy upgradation initiative emerges as a significant milestone, strengthening connectivity, alluring fresh investments, and catalyzing tourism in the region. With an estimated completion timeframe of 36 months, the project is poised to make a substantial and enduring impact on the local landscape.
