In the recent budget speech, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced an allocation of Rs. 155 crore to establish functional super specialty hospitals and burns care centers in three districts, namely Mysuru, Kalaburgi, and Belagavi.
To address the ongoing issue of drinking water scarcity in Karnataka, the government has initiated 172 projects aimed at filling tanks by extracting water from reservoirs. As part of this effort, 19 tank filling projects are planned to be completed, with a budget of Rs. 770 crore. These projects will focus on filling up a total of 899 tanks in districts including Belagavi, Davanagere, Ballari, Haveri, Gadaga, Bidar, Uttara Kannada, Vijayanagara, Koppala, Kalaburgi, and Yadagiri, providing a long-term solution to the water scarcity problem.
Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has exciting plans to introduce cutting-edge skill labs, research centers, and indoor sports facilities in multiple districts, including Belagavi, Kalaburgi, Hubballi, Davanagere, Dakshina Kannada, and Mysuru. Furthermore, the university aims to establish colleges of Allied Health Sciences in Kalaburgi and Mysuru districts, enhancing educational opportunities in these areas.
Additionally, the university is committed to skill development training for minority youths, allocating a budget of Rs. 4 crore for implementing this program in Ramanagar, Belagavi, Davangere, Kalaburagi, and Dakshina Kannada districts. These initiatives aim to empower the youth and promote their overall development.
To foster the growth of small-scale industries in Karnataka, the Karnataka State Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC) has planned the establishment of new industrial estates in a phased manner at seven strategic locations. These include Hubballi, Chittapura in Kalaburagi, Kodkani in Uttara Kannada, Kanagala in Belagavi, Badanaguppe in Chamarajnagara, Indi in Vijayapura, and Shahapura in Yadagiri districts.
Efforts will be made to enhance the Rehabilitation Centres at Bannerughatta and Mysuru, which play a vital role in providing care and protection to injured and sick animals rescued during human-animal conflicts. Additionally, construction of new rehabilitation centres is scheduled for Shivamogga and Belagavi, expanding the reach and capacity of these facilities.
In order to facilitate the comprehensive development of tourist destinations in the Kitturu Karnataka Region, special attention will be given to the preservation and promotion of Savadatti Yellammana Gudda.
To enhance the tourism experience and showcase the rich artistic, architectural, and cultural heritage of Karnataka, a range of engaging initiatives will be implemented. This includes the introduction of 3D projection, multimedia displays, sound and light shows, particularly at protected national monuments such as Kittur fort. These endeavors aim to attract visitors and promote night tourism in the region.
