Public Works Minister Satish Jarakiholi held a meeting with Union Highways and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to address the ongoing projects in the state that require attention on Tuesday.
During his visit to New Delhi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari received a warm felicitation from Jarakiholi. Subsequently, Jarakiholi took the opportunity to present a request to the Union Minister, outlining a comprehensive plan for the construction of 14 projects across the state. The proposal encompassed the development of flyover roads, ghat roads, tunnel roads, and various national highways.
In a subsequent interaction with reporters, Jarakiholi expressed concern over the delay of several road projects in the state due to officials at the central level. He further announced plans to convene a joint meeting to address these issues and initiate discussions regarding the pending works.
A proposal has been put forth to upgrade 38 state highways into national highways. Additionally, there is a pressing need for the improvement of the Chikkamagaluru-Bilikere road. Notably, the central government has displayed interest in constructing an underground road in Bangalore, spanning approximately 65 kilometers, resembling a metro tunnel, specifically for tunneling through Shiradi Ghat. Addressing another important aspect, Jarakiholi emphasized the necessity of completing the work on the Gound road.
A request has been made for the construction of an additional road along the lakeside of Hebbal. Furthermore, there is a requirement for a flyover on the Mysore Ring Road, which was also a topic of discussion. Notably, the cost of constructing Karnataka Bhavan has once again witnessed an increase of 20 crores due to a change in the plan. Jarakiholi mentioned the possibility of further cost escalation in the project.
