Residents of Dhavaleeshwara village in Mahalingapura are alarmed after the water of the Ghataprabha River, which flows across the local bridge, has turned a distinct red color due to contamination. The unusual change in the water’s appearance has caused significant anxiety among the community members.
Villagers face a difficult situation as they are compelled to use this water, supplied through pipelines, for bathing and daily household needs. There are serious concerns that if the contaminated water is given to cattle, it could have severe adverse effects on their health.
The villagers have demanded that water samples be tested immediately. They insist that the water should only be used for livestock or domestic purposes once a report confirms its safety. Additionally, they have urged officials to take urgent action by consulting the Health Department and arranging a new, safe water supply system.
