Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced the formulation of the ‘Nagilayogi’ (Nagilayogi) scheme to assist farmers owning up to three acres of land in their agricultural activities. Speaking at the Yallamma Temple premises in Savadatti, he assured that the government would fulfill the continuous demands of MLA Vaidya for filling local reservoirs and strengthening farmer organizations in every panchayat. The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating various development projects worth ₹215.37 crore, funded by the central and state governments’ Prasada Yojana and the authority’s fund.
Shivakumar highlighted that MLA Vishwas Vaidya has secured thousands of crores in funds for the region, prioritizing development projects such as a 100-bed hospital and municipal corporation improvements. He noted that the Pancha Guarantee Yojana (Pancha Guarantee Yojana) schemes are reaching the people, with benefits like electricity and free bus travel gaining public approval.
Minister H.K. Patil stated that the ₹118 crore provided by the central government is a loan that needs to be returned. He mentioned that they have requested the central government, through MP Shettar, to convert this amount into a grant. Additionally, Patil noted that 5,000 accommodation rooms are needed for devotees; 2,500 rooms will be built with devotee cooperation, and he requested the Chief Minister to provide an additional ₹200 crore for the government to construct the remaining 2,500 rooms.
MLA Vishwas Vaidya appealed to the Chief Minister to implement a project to fill the region’s reservoirs in the upcoming budget and to upgrade the Munavalli Primary Health Centre to a Community Health Centre. MP Jagadish Shettar stated that the ₹118 crore central fund was a result of collective efforts. He advised the state government to create a tourism corridor connecting major religious and tourist sites in Belagavi, Bagalkote, and Vijayapura districts, including Shabari Kolla in Ramdurg, Panchalingeshwara in Munavalli, Kokatanur, Sulebhavi, and Banashankari in Badami, to boost tourism in North Karnataka. He also suggested including Moodalagi in this plan.
Shettar further stated that providing approximately ₹450 crore for land acquisition compensation for the Belagavi-Dharwad railway line would accelerate the project. He also called for priority to be given to the Dharwad-Lokapur railway line project.
Other attendees included Ministers K.S. Basavanna, N.H. Konaraddi, Channaraj Hatiholi, Mahantesh Koulagi, and Ashok Pattan; District Collector Mohammed Roshan; CEO Rahul Shinde; Authority Secretary Rajashree Jainapoor; Tahsildar M.N. Hegannavar; BEO A.A.
