The Karnataka state government has raised ticket prices for the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and three other transport bodies by an average of 23%, effective from midnight on Wednesday, November 5. Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh announced the revision during a press conference in Bengaluru on November 4.
Under the new structure, the fare for the Bengaluru to Hubballi route increases from ₹490 to ₹613. Passengers travelling from Bengaluru to Belagavi will pay ₹742, up from the current ₹603, while the Bengaluru to Kalaburagi journey will cost ₹928, a significant jump from the previous ₹723. In addition to the NWKRTC, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) have also seen their fares rise by an average of 23%. The minister noted that ticket prices for the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have been increased by an average of 35%.
This marks the second fare hike since January 2025, when a flat 15% increase was applied across all corporations. The transport bodies justified the price rise by citing a five-fold increase in diesel prices over the last nine months, along with higher staff salaries.
