Doctors at Belgaum District Hospital successfully extracted a nail clipper from the stomach of a 20-year-old youth using an endoscopic procedure. The medical team was led by expert doctor Dr. Ganesha Koppada and senior gastroenterology interventionist Deepak Kengari. While removing the foreign object posed a significant challenge that would typically require major surgery, the physicians utilized endoscopy, a method involving direct internal viewing through a tube, to retrieve the item. The young patient has recovered and has been discharged to return home.
Dr. Vinay Dashtikopp, Director of the Belgaum Medical Sciences Institute, stated that the district hospital provides quality treatment to the poor. He noted that 800 endoscopy procedures were conducted at the facility over the past year.
