The much-anticipated flyover linking the National Highway near Shankam to the 3rd Railway Gate via Channamma Circle will finally take shape in October, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expected to lay the foundation. The update came from the District In-charge and Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi during an interaction hosted by the District Journalists’ Association at the Information and Public Relations Department auditorium.
Jarkiholi confirmed that the flyover will be constructed in two phases, assuring that high-quality standards will be maintained throughout. “We are committed to ensuring the durability of all PWD projects, particularly roads designed to last at least five years,” he said.

Goa–Belagavi Road Widening Stalled
Despite ₹50 crore already spent on development, the proposed widening of the Goa–Belagavi Highway is currently on hold, awaiting forest clearance. Jarkiholi also noted that a proposal has been sent to the state government to reassess the number of police stations in the district based on population ratios.
