A woman was assaulted inside the Athani court premises in Belagavi district, Karnataka, on November 18, leading to the arrest of the accused. The injured woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Babasaheb Chauhan, a resident of Kothanatti village, attacked his relative Meenakshi Ramachandra Shinde (50) with a machete. Both are involved in a civil dispute over the ownership of a piece of property.
According to police, Babasaheb chased Meenakshi around the court premises before attacking her. She was rescued by police personnel and bystanders after she rushed into the court hall while bleeding.
Meenakshi’s relatives informed the authorities that the two families have been embroiled in a long-running property dispute.
Police have registered a case.
