A woman in Karnataka’s Belgaum district faced a disturbing ordeal, allegedly confined and sexually assaulted amidst a land dispute, leading to the investigation against 20 individuals in connection with the incident.
In her complaint to the Bailhongal police station, the woman disclosed that she had approached the court regarding encroachments on her agricultural land. Recounting the distressing events, she stated, “While waiting at the bus stop, a sudden attack by 25 to 30 people occurred. They assaulted me, pulling my hair and violating my personal space.”
Following the assault, she was forcibly taken from the bus stop and confined in the panchayat office. During this period, the attackers allegedly took away her money and mobile phone, coercing her to sign documents against her will. The woman was released later in the evening.
The case has been transferred to the Belgaum Women’s police station. Sources indicate that the assailants also tore her clothes during the unfortunate incident.
Further details are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
