From May 25th to June 4th, a volume of 5.578 TMC (Thousand Million Cubic) water will be discharged from the Hidkal reservoir into the Ghataprabha river, Ghataprabha right bank, and left bank canals.
Addressing the matter, Public Works Department and District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi urged the public to utilize water wisely instead of wasting it.
Satish has announced that due to the current water shortage affecting people and livestock in Bagalkot and Belgaum districts, water is being released from the Hidkal reservoir to the Ghataprabha river and canals for drinking purposes.
From June 4 to June 10, a combined total of 1.814 TMC will be released from the Hidkal Reservoir to the Ghataprabha Right Bank Canal. Additionally, a total of 2,650 Cusecs will be diverted to the Ghataprabha Left Bank Canal, along with 2.289 TMC to the Chikkodi Sub-Canal. Furthermore, from June 1 to June 10, a total of 0.475 TMC will be directed to the river Krishna via the Ghataprabha Left Bank Canal in Baga taluk from the Hidkal Reservoir, he elaborated.
