A man and a woman, who had fled to safety from Hosa Vantamuri village, officially registered their marriage in Belgaum on Tuesday. The procedure was carried out under police protection at the Sub-Registrar Office in Belgaum. The police also escorted the man and woman to their new residence in a village within the Belgaum district.
Following news of the escape in December, the bride’s relatives forcibly disrobed and physically assaulted the man’s mother. The woman’s family, who faced assault and disrobing by the bride’s relatives due to the relationship, has now recovered from the injuries. She has been released from the hospital and is currently residing with a relative in close proximity to the city. The woman, along with four other female family members, welcomed the new bride into their home.
Due to security concerns, the two families are residing in separate locations. According to a supervising police officer, although the marriage occurred the day after the assault, it was officially registered on January 30 in accordance with regulations.
