The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has approved Rs 106 crore for 18 infrastructure projects in the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency, including key road and bridge works.
Among the projects is the Lolasur bridge in Gokak taluk, which has been sanctioned Rs 40 crore. This bridge, located on the Ghataprabha River, addresses a long-standing issue where Gokak town was cut off every year due to flooding, submerging the previous Lolasur bridge. Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi had been in discussions with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for over a year to bring this project to fruition.
Additionally, two more bridges have been approved for Savadatti taluk: one on the Malaprabha River on the Arabhavi-Challakeri road for Rs 6 crore, and another on the Gokak-Savadatti Road for Rs 12 crore.
Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar announced that six roads in Belagavi taluk will also be re-asphalted, with works including the Jamboti-Rabakavi Road via Killa Circle (Rs 1 crore), Maharashtra border to Rakaskop-Sutagatti Road (Rs 4 crore), Raichur-Bachi Road (Rs 1 crore), Vadagaon-Dhamane-Avacharatti Road (Rs 4 crore), Yellur-Avacharatti-Yaramala Road (Rs 1 crore), NH-4 to Desur railway station via Waghavade, Lakshminagar Approach Road (Rs 1 crore), and Jamboti Rabakavi Road from Rankundye Cross to VTU (Rs 2 crore).
