Tragedy struck the Belgundi–Sonoli region as two young men from the neighboring villages lost their lives within ten hours of each other, one due to electrocution and the other from a snakebite. The deceased have been identified as Karan Mohan Patil (30) of Belgundi and Milind Prabhakar Patil (30) of Sonoli, both from Belgaum taluk. The sudden deaths have cast a pall of sorrow over the twin villages.
Youth dies of snakebite
As per reports, on Tuesday night (14th), Karan Patil was working near his farmhouse when he was bitten by a snake in low light. He immediately alerted his family, who rushed him to the district hospital. However, he succumbed on the way as the snake was highly venomous. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Karan, who was recently married, is survived by his wife, mother, and brother. He was employed with a private company in Pune and had been working from home, planning to rejoin work after Diwali.
Painter electrocuted while at work
Earlier that evening, Milind Patil, a painter from Sonoli village, died of electrocution while painting a house. A high-voltage line passed in front of the building, and he accidentally came in contact with it while painting a wall on the first floor, leading to his immediate death. He is survived by his parents, brother, and sister. Police and HESCOM officials inspected the site and conducted a panchnama. The last rites of both youths are scheduled for Wednesday.
