A tragic accident occurred near Amte village, close to Jamboti in Khanapur taluka, involving a two-wheeler and a container vehicle, resulting in the death of a student.
The deceased has been identified as Nikhil Babagowda Patil (19), a resident of Manjari village in Chikkodi taluka and an engineering student at GIT College, Belgaum. Another student, Nikhil Ramesh Belagowda from Mudalgi, sustained serious injuries in the accident.
The incident occurred while the students traveled to Goa on a two-wheeler during a holiday break for Valmiki Jayanti. The collision took place when the two-wheeler crashed into an oncoming container vehicle near Jamboti.
Khanapur Police Inspector Manjunath Naik and PSI Girish M visited the scene to conduct an inspection. A panchnama was completed, and the case was registered at the Khanapur police station.
The injured student has been admitted to a hospital for treatment, while the deceased’s body was sent to the district hospital for a post-mortem examination.
