Karnataka Police have arrested Navneet and Suraj, both residents of Sangli, in connection with a car robbery involving smuggled gold. The suspects had abandoned the vehicle while fleeing the scene.
The incident occurred on the 15th of this month in Belagavi, Karnataka. The accused hijacked a vehicle transporting gold from Kerala to Maharashtra by threatening the occupants with a firearm. The three-member team in the car had been delivering gold to Maharashtra and returning with cash when the robbery occurred.
Police have recovered ₹16 lakh from the arrested suspects and discovered ₹1 crore hidden in a secret compartment of the abandoned car. The Karnataka Police plan to extend their investigation to Kerala to uncover further case details.
