A most-wanted terrorist involved in the Bengaluru blast case, Akbar Pasha, was transferred from Nagpur jail to Hindalga jail in Belagavi on Monday night under heavy security. Pasha, who had been communicating with notorious criminal Jayesh Poojary, currently imprisoned at Hindalga, was flown to Belagavi after an investigation by Nagpur police revealed their connection.
Poojary, known for threatening Union Minister Nitin Gadkari last year and demanding a Rs 100 crore ransom, has been linked to Pasha, leading to their interrogation and Pasha’s subsequent transfer.
Akbar Pasha is now housed in Hindalga jail’s high-security Andheri (dark) cell, reserved for the most dangerous criminals, including Bannanje Raja and Poojary. Hindalga jail, a British-era facility, has 33 dark cells, 19 of which are currently occupied by high-profile inmates, primarily those facing the death penalty or considered major threats.
