In an effort to uphold Kannadatva (Kannada identity), a couple from Belagavi has embraced a fully Kannada-themed wedding, turning it into a unique celebration. The marriage of Deepak and Rajeshwari, both Kannadigas, at Belagavi’s HK Patil Kalyana Mantapa resembled a festive occasion dedicated to Kannada, featuring prominently displayed Kannada flag, turban, and names. Moreover, during the wedding, the bride and groom have adorned themselves with a gold ring engraved with the words “Kannadiga” and “Kannadati,” emphasizing their distinctiveness.
In this unique Kannada wedding ceremony, Swamiji Chandra Shekhar Shivacharya from Hukkeri Hiremath in Channarayapatna played the role of a witness and conducted the marriage rituals, reciting the mantras in Kannada.
In the midst of the persistent language conflicts in Belgaum, this Kannada wedding becomes a notable point of interest. Deepak and Rajeshwari, through their union, have shown that affection for language can thrive even in challenging circumstances.
