A tragic road accident occurred on Thursday between Manganakoppa and Beedi village in Khanapur taluk, Belgaum district, Karnataka, resulting in the death of at least six individuals and injuries to four others, according to the police. The victims, residents of Langoti Galli in Dharwad city, include car driver Shahrukh Pendari (30), Iqbal Jamadar (50), Sania Langoti (37), Umra Begum Langoti (17), Shabanama Langoti (37), and Paran Langoti (13). The injured are Farath Betageri (18), Sophia Langoti (22), Sania Iqbal Jamadar (36), and Mohin Langoti (7).
According to a senior police official, a family was traveling by car from Kittur towards Golihalli village in Khanapura taluk to attend a wedding. Unfortunately, the driver lost control, resulting in the car colliding with a tree. The impact of the collision caused severe damage to the bodies of the driver and another occupant, with the vehicle being completely crushed.
Local residents and the police quickly responded to the scene, extracting the deceased bodies from the car and transporting the injured to the district hospital. Dr. Bhima Shankar Guleda, the District Superintendent of Police, personally visited the location to assess the situation.
The occurrence occurred within the jurisdiction of the Nandagad police station, and authorities stated that a case will be filed under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in relation to this incident.
