On Thursday, the Cabinet sanctioned a proposal to set up seven new taluk hospitals with 100 beds each across the state, totaling Rs 256 crore in expenditure.
The upcoming taluk hospitals will be located in Anekal, Hoskote, Khanapur, Nelamangala, Shirahatti, Sringeri, and Yelandur. The initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with support from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
The Cabinet also sanctioned the procurement of medicines, equipment, and essential supplies to enhance laboratory facilities at 563 Namma Clinics through the Karnataka State Medical Supplies Corporation. Additionally, approval was granted to elevate 15 primary health centers to community health centers.
The Cabinet approved several significant decisions recently. They sanctioned Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the family of BBMP chief engineer CM Shivakumar, who tragically lost his life in a fire accident. Additionally, BMTC will acquire 840 new BS-6 buses, amounting to Rs 363.82 crore, to enhance public transport services.
Another allocation of Rs 30 crore was earmarked for the renovation of KEA’s building. Furthermore, the Cabinet endorsed a reduction in the minimum service requirement for promotion to Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) from 5 years to 3 years, aiming to streamline career advancement opportunities. Lastly, in a move to optimize administrative efficiency, the number of IAS officers stationed at Karnataka Bhavan will be reduced from five to two.
