Seven companies have submitted their bids for the civil construction work of a new terminal building at Belgaum Airport, following the opening of technical bids by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Friday.
The current domestic terminal at Belgaum Airport, spanning 3,600 sq.m, can accommodate 300 passengers during peak hours and handle up to 6 narrow-body aircraft on its apron. The proposed new terminal, as suggested by consultant Landrum and Brown, will include 4 aerobridges and increase the airport’s capacity to handle 2400 passengers during peak hours (1200 arrivals and 1200 departures). The existing terminal will be repurposed exclusively for arrivals. This strategic move aims to accommodate a traffic demand of 2.0 million passengers annually until 2037.
In November 2023, AAI invited tenders for the civil construction contract with an estimated cost of Rs. 265.04 crore. The completion deadline for the project is set at two years.
The companies that submitted bids for the project are BG Shirke Construction Technology Pvt. Ltd., CS Construction Company Ltd., Girdharilal Constructions Pvt. Ltd., Harsh Construction Pvt. Ltd., KMV Pvt. Ltd., KPC Projects Pvt. Ltd., and Renaatus Projects Pvt. Ltd. The submitted bids are currently undergoing technical evaluation. Following this evaluation, the financial bids from the qualified bidders will be revealed to determine the lowest bidder, who is likely to be awarded the contract.
