Public Works Minister and KPCC working president Satish Jarkiholi revealed in Belgaum on Sunday that he recently concluded a solo tour of Dubai. In response to inquiries about his foreign trip, he hinted at the possibility of future travels with legislators, expressing, “I have just completed a tour of Dubai. I went alone this time, but I could take some legislators with me for a foreign tour in the future.”
Last month, Jarkiholi had to cancel plans for a Mysuru tour with legislators, opting instead to take them on a trip to Dubai. Addressing concerns about the Congress government’s decision to merge departments like Horticulture and Sericulture, the Minister clarified that it is a strategic move for administrative efficiency and not a response to the state’s financial situation.
Dispelling notions of financial constraints, he emphasized, “It is wrong to assume that we are integrating departments as we have run out of money. This is a move that has been pending for over a decade. There is a 10-year-old report, but successive governments could not implement it. We are doing it as it will lead to administrative convenience and the ultimate welfare of farmers.”
