Rotary Belagavi Marathon 2025 Witnesses 3,000 Runners in a Successful 14th Edition

The 14th edition of the Rotary Belagavi Marathon was successfully held on February 16, 2025, drawing over 3,000 participants. Organized by the Rotary Club of Venugram Belgaum in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Venugram, Belgaum, the marathon embraced the theme ‘Go Green’.

Brigadier Joydeep Mukherjee, Commandant of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, inaugurated the Half Marathon Race, while Rotary Club of Venugram Belagavi President Vinay Balikai, along with Event Chairmen Mallikarjun Murgude, Kapil Kalbhairav, and Event Mentors Umesh Ramgurwadi and Mahesh Angolkar, flagged off the Full Marathon Race.

Race Highlights & Winners

In the Men’s Full Marathon Open Category, Pralhad Nayak from Elite Running Academy, Khanapur, clinched the top spot, while Jasmitha Kodenkiri from Mangalore emerged victorious in the Women’s Open Division. In the Veteran Category, Vinayak Jambotkar from Belgaum and Shyamala S secured first place.

A special highlight of the event was 92-year-old runner Bylahalli Raghunath Janardhan from Bengaluru, who completed the 21 km race, inspiring all attendees.

Sponsorship & Support

The marathon received strong support from various sponsors. BPCL served as the Associate Sponsor, while Aditya Birla Hindalco provided race T-shirts. Vijaya PU College sponsored medals, and Canara Bank contributed cash prizes. Other key sponsors included Kings Ice Cream, MMA Matrix Gym, Sinchan (Hydration Partner), STIHL, Anita Farmhouse, Hitech Group, FDC, and AEQUS.

Event Dignitaries & Recognition

The 10 km race was flagged off by Dr. Ravi Patil from Vijaya PU College, who also honored the winners. Distinguished guests included Rotary District Governor Sharat Pai, AGM of Canara Bank Sivaramkrishnan, Vijaykant Sidnal (Director of Kings Ice Cream), Pradeep Tripathi (Finance Head, Hindalco), Dr. Basavraj Hospeti (Sinchan), and Kumar Rajvardhan (TM Lubricant BPCL).

All participants received medals, T-shirts, E-Timing certificates, breakfast, hydration support, and medical assistance. Over 2,000 school students joined the 3 km Fun Run, adding to the event’s enthusiasm.
