Thousands of devotees are converging at the renowned Renuka Yellamma Temple in Savadatti and the Mayakka Temple in Chinchali, Raibag taluk, as fairs kick off at both locations. The Renuka Yellamma Temple stands gracefully on the Malaprabha River banks, while the Mayakka Temple is situated alongside the Krishna River.
Devotees from the state and neighboring Maharashtra are participating in the festivities at the Renuka Yellamma Temple, with this being one of the three major fairs held during Bharat Hunnime, spanning two weeks. The influx of devotees at Yallammanagudda has led to traffic management challenges for the local administration. To ensure security, an extensive police presence and CCTV cameras have been deployed, while the temple trust has organized potable water facilities.
SPB Mahesh, the temple administrator, anticipates a visitation of approximately 10 lakh devotees within a week. Meanwhile, the Mayakka fair in Chinchali commenced on Saturday and will run until March 3. The Pallakki Utsav, a key ritual, is scheduled for February 28. Despite the official conclusion on March 3, devotees continue to visit the Mayakka Temple for about a month. The Mayakkadevi Devasthan Trust and local authorities have coordinated to make necessary arrangements, including bathing facilities provided by the Kudachi municipality along the Krishna River, along with designated changing areas for women.
