The Pyaas Foundation in Belagavi officially handed over the restored Khasbag Mattikop well to the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) on April 29. Located in Teachers Colony, this well is over 150 years old and is considered a historical landmark.
During the British era, the well provided drinking water to the areas of Tilakwadi, Shahapur, and Khasbag. However, it had been abandoned and fell into disrepair over time. Thanks to CSR support from AKP Ferrocasts and Bemco Hydraulics, the Pyaas Foundation successfully revived the well.
The well, which reaches a depth of approximately 30 feet, has the capacity to supply up to 1,000 tankers of water daily. The foundation has also undertaken plantation activities around the site to enhance its surroundings.
The restored water body was formally handed over to Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan in the presence of BCC Commissioner Shubha B. Roshan expressed his full support for the foundation’s ongoing efforts.
AKP Ferrocasts’ Ram Bhandare, Parag Bhandare, and Anuruddha Mohata of Bemco Hydraulics were recognized for their significant contributions to the project.
Madhav Prabhu, president of Pyaas Foundation, shared the organization’s mission during the event.
