Pyaas Foundation has begun work on rejuvenating and developing two lakes at Halshiwadi in Belagavi district, with support from its CSR partner, AKP Ferrocast.
Speaking at the launch in Halshiwadi village near Khanapur, Foundation president Madhav Prabhu said the initiative aims to ensure better water availability for farmers and residents in the years ahead.
Highlighting the growing impact of water scarcity on agriculture and rural livelihoods, he said the project focuses on desilting, structural repairs, and increasing the storage capacity of the lakes.
He also thanked the Bhandare family, particularly Parag Bhandare and Preeti Bhandare, for their support through AKP Ferrocast’s CSR initiative.
Prabhu noted that effective water management remains a major challenge, and lake rejuvenation plays a key role in conserving rainwater and improving groundwater levels. He added that the project would benefit farmers in Halshiwadi and surrounding areas, while also addressing drinking water concerns.
Former taluk panchayat member Chandrakant Desai said the initiative would help ease water scarcity, enhance groundwater levels, and support the overall development of the village. He assured full cooperation from the local community for its successful execution.
