Pro-Kannada organizations, led by activist Vatal Nagaraj, have called for a Karnataka Bandh on March 22 in protest against recent attacks on KSRTC bus conductors and drivers, as well as the “blatant violence” by pro-Marathi activists.
A meeting in Bengaluru finalized the decision, confirming the bandh will be observed from 6 AM to 6 PM.
Reason for the Bandh
The protest is in response to an incident where alleged Marathi miscreants assaulted KSRTC staff and smeared ink on their faces. Vatal Nagaraj and other pro-Kannada leaders are demanding strict action against those responsible and urging stronger government intervention to prevent such attacks.
Protest March Planned
A march will be held in Bengaluru from Town Hall to Freedom Park at 10:30 AM on the day of the bandh. Vatal Nagaraj has called on the public to refrain from traveling and support the protest, labeling it a fight for Kannada pride.
With backing from major transport unions and business groups, commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly.
